Matthew Wheeler, born and raised in the Central Valley, CA, is a Professional Composer/Arranger, Musician, Musical Director and Worship Leader. He began his musical career at the age of 7. Playing piano for churches and giving several recitals. He quickly discovered that he had the ability to learn any instrument within days and expanded his arsenal of instruments quickly. His parents discovered his ability for composition when he wrote a Choral Piece at the age of 9. His parents quickly ask Matthew to write different piano pieces that sounded like Rain, Thunder, Love, Hope and something Scary; which to his parents surprise, he did with ease. Matthew has studied music at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Fresno City College, CSU Fresno and will finish his graduate work at USC Thorton School of Music. He has a great passion for Film Music and has scored several short films and is currently working on a documentary. He's been influenced by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, John Williams, John Debney, Hans Zimmer, Brian Tyler, Michael Kamen, Michael Giacchino and many others. He hopes not only to have a very successful career as a composer, but, hopes to give back and help teach music to whose who can't afford music lessons. Besides a busy career as a composer/orchestrator, he also Musically Directs Broadway Musicals. He has been involved in over 20 productions, such shows include; RENT, 13 the musical (west coast premier), Legally Blonde, Grease, The Rocky Horror Show, A Chorus Line, Into The Woods and currently Dogfight (local premier). He just recently became the youngest person to not only Musically Direct, but to also Vocal Coach the Fall Fresno State musical Cabaret.
